I’m going to share some pictures  of my spinning wheel collection, I’ll add more pictures in the future.  I’m going to start off with a very old Turkish (Ottoman period) floor spindle wheel.  I found this wheel on Ebay, looking at the picture that was on Ebay I didn’t think it  looked very big, but when it arrived in a refrigerator box I knew I was in trouble with size.  I managed to find a place for it to sit and that’s where it will probably sit for the next umpteen years.   It was in desperate need of a good cleaning and some major repair to the base supports, plus it needed a new turning handle and spindle before I could even begin to think about spinning on it.  The wheel is 23 ins in diameter and very heavy, the base is 36 ins long, so it takes up a fair amount of space.   The day came that I could finally attempt to spin, I sat down with cotton sliver and held my breath and it was magic, I turned the wheel and it took off like a dream , barely needed to touch the handle to keep it spinning and I was on my way to spinning cotton with very little effort.   Here she is:

Crochet

Yesterday I met up with a group of ladies for a crochet get together at a coffee shop in Hiawatha.  We had a good time visiting and getting to know each others crochet projects and yarns we like to use.   We plan on getting together again next month, the first Saturday afternoon of the month.
